Ottawa, ON – Pinoys on Parliament, the first and largest Filipino-Canadian youth leadership conference, will open for its second year on February 21-23, 2020 in Ottawa, Ontario. Organizers are excited to welcome 200 delegates to participate and make a difference in their home communities. Dr. Gigi Osler will deliver the keynote address this year. Dr. Osler is an esteemed physician and an assistant professor at the University of Manitoba. She is the first female surgeon and first woman of colour to be elected as the president of the Canadian Medical Association.

Pinoys on Parliament brings together delegates from across the country. During the three-day conference, they will have an opportunity to enhance their career prospects through workshops, networking events, and attending panels composed of notable Filipino-Canadian leaders.

Aside from building connections with other delegates and professionals from other provinces and territories, participants will also explore landmarks in Ottawa as well as engage with the Filipino community in the city. Last year, delegates toured the House of Commons and attended an event at the Philippine Embassy.

At the end of the conference, delegates are invited to participate in a six-month mentorship program where they are matched with leaders in sectors and areas of expertise who have interests and fields of work similar to their interests. In keeping with this year’s theme of Magkasama, the Filipino word for “Together,” Pinoys on Parliament is excited to build bridges between Filipino-Canadians and assist with fostering connections to lift, grow, and achieve their goals together as they traverse on their journey as leaders.
